This is true at least from a personal user's perspective. Although, I did get one last laugh out of the relationship. As I arrived at the account deletion page, I was served "The Guilt Trip Interface." Well done.
It has an arrangement of photos, titles reading, "Tom is going to miss you. Send Tom a message. Pat is going to miss you. Send Pat a message." I am somewhat familiar with this tactic as I was raised Catholic. It's ok to laugh, the TSA isn't watching—unless you are logged into Facebook.

Facebook Content & Interface Design
When did the FB interface turn into a 1997 version of Yahoo?
More so now, Facebook is really hard to look at, and makes me dislike it more and more. It’s riddled with irrelevant text, apps and icons everywhere — surveys and other peoples franchised Candy Saga games (WTF?) being promoted.
I'm leaving out the things we've grown to accept, because you already know them and some people have accepted them. But where Facebook is now seems unacceptable. Like the Idiocracy version of the internet.
Facebook became popular in opposition to MySpace because there wasn't trash everywhere. It was clean and simple — people respected that. They clearly can't make that claim anymore. Facebook, you've seen what happened to your friends, and it's not pretty.
