Bumpers, Stop-Motion and Daisy Fuentes from 90s MTV

This is the brilliance that made me want to get into video and art, and video mixed with art - as we now call motion graphics.

I'll start with a clip of, what I considered at the age of 13, the best MTV Bumper in the Live Action Category.

A classic series of MTV Shorts, including Joe's Apartment at the 5:30 mark. Singing roaches and first dates.

Gnarly. So, let's sign off on a positive note with Miss Daisy Fuentes (another best from MTV, but in a 13-year-old-queezy-stomach way), who tells us about an opportunity she has for us to embrace.

Image Collection From Months Past

Below is a post of an image collection of visuals I found interesting and wanted to share. I don't have the source for these, but I hope you enjoy.

The Pizza Underground

The other day I came across this image, which is pretty funny in my opinion. Macauley wearing a shirt of Gosling wearing of shirt of Macauley (I think it's gone further than this now). The below image I found on an article written about the shirt. My interest took me further than the obvious focus of the shirt, toward the mug, and the individual that posted the image, @cheesedayz.

Unveiled to me was The Pizza Underground, a cover band of The Velvets, that wrote about pizza. I didn't realize this until I listened to the demo - thepizzaunderground.bandcamp.com

The tumblr page is riddled with great album cover remakes and original art inspired by who other than, Mr. Warhol. Bananas, Campbells Cans, and Macauley Culkin eating in solitude, inspired by this session.

Job Propulsion Labs - Online Episodes

Above is the first episode of a series done for Job Propulsion Labs, "where people receive the personalized training they need to get the ad career they're meant to have. "

Each episode focuses on a different aspect of finding your dream job and gives an brief idea of how to get there. Click the image below for the JPL YouTube page to watch the remaining episodes. My favorite moment could very well be the epic 80's ending.

You can also checkout the website here which is soon to have an update of content.

And just for bonus points, here is a poster that is screen printed and handed out at events.

Pistolet de Lafitte: A Pirate and A Whale

This is a shirt design I have available at my shop. I wanted to do a print of something that captured the old days at sea. I came up with a pistol design which has a whale and a pirate in the design. I imagine the infamous pirate Jean Lafitte carried this, and word around the family campfire is that Misior Lafitte is my uncle 5 generations back. Respect.

Link to the design.

Breaking free from the reigns of commercial work

I've started a new series entitled "Suspended".

Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry

IFC reached out to McJ and shared some passes for Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry. I hadn't heard of the artist or the film before yesterday, but from the trailer, I like it already. Playing at the Violet Crown in Austin.

Bryce 3D

I'll start with an image that represents where I started. A lovely wonderland known as Bryce 3D. This image was so badass when I was in high school I decided to print it out, and matte it, and ultimately hang it on my wall. Yes. Well, I just found this little gem in a closet the other day and I decided to revive it. If you would like a version simply follow the below steps:

    1. Take out your phone and take a picture of this image represented on your monitor.
    2. Email this to yourself from your phone.
    2. Print it out.
    4. Find a thumb tack, then push it through the paper and into a wall.
    5. Have a house (or cubicle party) to impress all your friends and/or business acquaintances.
