Google Doodle and Typography

I'm really liking the Google home page illustration from yesterday. The colors, typography and texturing are all really nice looking. Not only is the image easy to watch in a trance-like state, it clicked through to awesome information as usual. It was Inge Lehmann's 127th birthday - a lady who changed the way the world thinks, and the way we think we stand upon it.

An excerpt from wiki:

Inge Lehmann ForMemRS (May 13, 1888 – February 21, 1993) was a Danish seismologist and geophysicist. In 1936, she discovered that the Earth has a solid inner core inside a molten outer core. Before that, scientists believed Earth's core to be a single molten sphere. However, seismologists had been unable to explain careful measurements of seismic waves from earthquakes, which were inconsistent with the Earth having a single molten core. Lehmann analysed the seismic wave measurements, and she concluded that Earth must have a solid inner inside a molten outer core to produce seismic waves that matched the measurements. Other seismologists tested and and then accepted Lehmann's explanation.

It Was All A Dream Printed on Leather Pillow

Indeed it was a dream. Maybe it still is, because I'm haven't been sippin' on private stock, not yet anyway. This pillow makes want to take a nap, drool, open my eyes, then peel myself from the leather. I'd have to go with black leather though.

Nice idea and design from these guys. Cheers.

Forget Shit and Move On

This will be a great help to anyone that can actually do this from time to time.

Logos from Yesteryear(s)

Apex Audio & Video

Apex is a high-end home audio and video company. The logo mark displays an "A" that makes a peak to represent an apex. The smaller triangles are the "Audio & Video" portion of the name. The line surrounding signifies a cable with a plug on the end.

Hindfoot Restraint Brace

HRB is a company with a patent-pending design to help people that need support other than a shoe (think leather, lace-up sock). All pieces are hand-crafted, and the visuals represents that. It displays a ranch style brand mark to connect with the leather working that drives the company.

Third Coast Icehouse

This coastal hangout strives to carry craft and locally brewed beers. The logo mark displays a mug and anchor to tie the beer culture and coastal life in one. Simplicity was a driving force when connecting in order to match the interior of the establishment.

Top of the Ranks - Kanye Twitty

As most of the world knows by this point, I made a photo mash-up of Kanye West and Conway Twitty.

 http://blog.jerrettwhite.com/2012/05/kanye-twitty.html

Well, I'm very proud to announce "Kanye Twitty" has been at the top of Google Image Search for about a year now. Over the past months I've checked this search from time to time (to maintain the reign) and I'm amazed. I think about the enormous, absurd amount of information on the web and that I am the #1 suggested for a very peculiar, niche obsession with pop versus classic culture.

My grandmother was a huge fan of Conway Twitty. She'd be so proud of me for this achievement...or she would be very disappointed in my ways of visual disfigurement. I think I'll bask in the former.

SXSW Voting is Open

2014 is already on peoples mind. Especially if you are a SXSW event holder - official or not. We usually have a gathering of sorts at the McGarrah Jessee building, and of course plenty of musical acts are within walking distance, day and night. Last year we held a rooftop party at the office with beer, brats and musical acts ranging from Mayeux & Broussard to The Oh Sees.

Now, let's talk interactive. SXSW panel picker voting has started, I have submitted a workshop session and I'd love for people to have a look to vote, share and so on.

My workshop is titled Turn Your Idea into an Ownable Brand. I'll take product designers and startups through a 4 hour session to help them define their brand. They'll walk away with a DIY book that has typography, color, texture and personality. Guiding attendees through this hands on workshop will be a Strategy Lead, Motion Design Lead and an Executive Creative Director.

Complete Collection of Saul Bass Film Posters

This is a collection to every poster he's ever done. It's nice to see this and think about how his style has paved the way for simplicity in design.  We've all seen some of these posters over and over again, but they never get old. Some of these I'm seeing for the first time, and his mark exists, no doubt.
