Bumpers, Stop-Motion and Daisy Fuentes from 90s MTV

This is the brilliance that made me want to get into video and art, and video mixed with art - as we now call motion graphics.

I'll start with a clip of, what I considered at the age of 13, the best MTV Bumper in the Live Action Category.

A classic series of MTV Shorts, including Joe's Apartment at the 5:30 mark. Singing roaches and first dates.

Gnarly. So, let's sign off on a positive note with Miss Daisy Fuentes (another best from MTV, but in a 13-year-old-queezy-stomach way), who tells us about an opportunity she has for us to embrace.

The Wind and The Wave Album: From The Wreckage

Get a new album from The Wind and The Wave, From The Wreckage. These two put on a great live show, I'm sure the vinyl is just as fun to listen to on a Sunday morning. I designed this limited run shirt they are offering with the purchase. Get 'em. It's good stuff.

If you are in Austin you can pick it up at End of an Ear Records.

SxSW Recap

I was asked to help shoot the KEXP shows at Mellow Johnny's this year during SxSW. Being a fan of the all the great music KEXP runs on air and posts online, I was happy to help out. Below are stills from the interviews of The Black Lips and Hurray for the Riff Raff.

I also ran into this set by happy accident, Les Claypool's Duo de Twang.

The Pizza Underground

The other day I came across this image, which is pretty funny in my opinion. Macauley wearing a shirt of Gosling wearing of shirt of Macauley (I think it's gone further than this now). The below image I found on an article written about the shirt. My interest took me further than the obvious focus of the shirt, toward the mug, and the individual that posted the image, @cheesedayz.

Unveiled to me was The Pizza Underground, a cover band of The Velvets, that wrote about pizza. I didn't realize this until I listened to the demo - thepizzaunderground.bandcamp.com

The tumblr page is riddled with great album cover remakes and original art inspired by who other than, Mr. Warhol. Bananas, Campbells Cans, and Macauley Culkin eating in solitude, inspired by this session.

Cigar Box Maker

I'd love to have some étouffée, play some songs, and share stories with this guy.

You can listen to some of his music here.

Top of the Ranks - Kanye Twitty

As most of the world knows by this point, I made a photo mash-up of Kanye West and Conway Twitty.

 http://blog.jerrettwhite.com/2012/05/kanye-twitty.html

Well, I'm very proud to announce "Kanye Twitty" has been at the top of Google Image Search for about a year now. Over the past months I've checked this search from time to time (to maintain the reign) and I'm amazed. I think about the enormous, absurd amount of information on the web and that I am the #1 suggested for a very peculiar, niche obsession with pop versus classic culture.

My grandmother was a huge fan of Conway Twitty. She'd be so proud of me for this achievement...or she would be very disappointed in my ways of visual disfigurement. I think I'll bask in the former.

YouTube Updates Playlist Interface

I dig it, the upcoming videos are listed where my attention is already. I can understand why they set it at the bottom previously, but it always seemed clunky. This will be easier to look through. Although, most of my youtube playlists windows get minimized to the dock. Except, of course, the Asian Club Pot-Luck Playlist, it went full-screen. (I am French-German, but due to my elevated appreciation for the pan-asian cultures I was invited to join with ceremonial open arms.)

I also like the UI of the menu icon that has been showing up on all of Google's interfaces. You can see it right under the logo in the top right. It expands to the image on the left and pushes content to the right.
